Introduction

Therapy Games Publishing

introduces Therapeutic Bingo and Therapeutic Playing Cards by Dr. K.A. Richardson. Therapeutic Bingo games and Playing card decks are psycho/educational games for adolescents and adults.  All the games have been

rigorously tested over a period of years in a variety of inpatient and outpatient groups and

with participants from a variety of backgrounds.

Therapeutic Bingo

  • In 2001, Dr. Richardson created Therapeutic Bingo Games. Play the game like bingo.  The facilitator calls out the word and the players search of the keyword or phrase, which is highlighted in color on each Bingo Card, so it's easy to find.  Mark off the key word on the facilitator checklist to double check the winner's keywords.  The facilitator and participants prompt discussions at any time.

  • Players explore various concepts and learn new coping skills while playing bingo games addressing self-esteem, stress management, anger management, assertive communication, and positive affirmations.  Use the reproducible handout in each game to process the group.

  • Dr. Richardson's clients asked for Bingo over and over. Clients loved learning and playing at the same time and winning small prizes. Remember, adults want to have fun too! These games are helpful to social workers, psychologists, psychiatric counselors, occupational therapists, substance abuse counselors and other mental health professional.  Where there's a group - there's therapeutic bingo!

Group Discussion Playing Cards

  • In 2004, Dr. Richardson created Group Discussion Playing Cards.  These dual purpose, intuitive cards are both discussion cards and regular playing cards so people can play their favorite card games while learning or absorbing new concepts!  In groups, a facilitator can distribute the cards with instructions that the participants with the highest card go first and read/answer the concept cards.  These colorful playing cards are 2.5" by 3.5" poker size cards.

  • Each Playing card deck focuses on one of the following five topics:  stress management, anger management, self-esteem, positive affirmations, and assertive communication.  Every card presents a concept followed by a question to facilitate group discussions and personal insight.  These would be great gifts for those dealing with life's most difficult challenges.  Instructions are included for use in group settings or by individuals for personal growth!
